Our story
Where the night begins
A supper lounge born from the warmth of New York nights, the soul of Chicago kitchens, and the spirit of a community that deserves somewhere truly special.
A vision worth staying up for
The Moon began as a feeling — the kind you get walking into a room where the lighting is just right, the music is low and alive, and the person behind the bar already knows what you need. It's a feeling most of us have only found in the great supper clubs of New York and Chicago, in rooms that understood that a great evening is never just about the food.
We're bringing that feeling to Haile Village Center. Not as a replica, not as a theme — but as something genuinely ours. A place where Gainesville gathers, lingers, and leaves a little better than when it arrived.
New York in the bones, Chicago in the kitchen
The great supper clubs of mid-century New York set the standard: velvet booths, candlelight, a bandstand that never went quiet, and a menu that took itself seriously without taking itself too seriously. Sinatra understood it. So did every room he ever walked into.
From Chicago we take the deep-dish conviction — the belief that food should be generous, soulful, and made with the kind of care that turns a meal into a memory. Italian-American cooking at its most honest: red sauce that simmers all day, a crust that earns its reputation.
"The best rooms are the ones that make you forget what time it is."
Built for Haile Village
Haile Village Center is one of the most distinctive neighborhoods in Florida — walkable, neighborly, alive with the kind of community that actually shows up for each other. The Moon is designed to be its living room after dark.
We want regulars. We want the couple celebrating their anniversary in the same booth they sat in on their first date. We want the table of friends who come every Friday because Friday at The Moon is simply what Friday means now. That's the restaurant we're building.
Live music, select nights
Jazz, soul, and swing on select evenings — never background noise, always a reason to stay one more round.
Italian-American soul food
Deep-dish pizza and a menu that honors the immigrant kitchens that built American dining.
A bar worth lingering at
Classic cocktails done right, an Italian wine list, and a bartender who remembers your name.
